The Shala river is a combination of turquoise blue water, rocky cliffs and lush nature. It is also known as the "Thailand of Albania", because of its gorgeous nature. Around 11:00 AM or 11:30 AM, you arrive at Shala Beach. Where you can go for a swim, sunbathe and have a lovely lunch at one of the restaurants.

Lumi i shales is one of the most beautiful spots in Albania and was easily one of the highlights of my road trip. It is not the easiest place to get to, and as we don't speak Albanian the whole journey was a bit confusing, we honestly has no idea if we were going where we wanted to, but luckily it all worked out!

August 4, 2022 The Shala River (aka Lumi I Shales) is one of the highlight natural attractions of Albania, BUT not that many people know about it! The Shala River is often confused with Komani Lake and although they're attached, they're definitely not the same.

6. Re: Valbona to Lumi i Shales (Shala River) Aug 10, 2023, 4:34 AM. Save. It was brilliant - the ferry from Fierze to Koman was definitely a highlight! I didn't find a way from Fierze to Lumi I Shales without going back to Koman first, which would have been OK if I had a bit more time but I decided to leave it.

Lumi i Shales An Unbelievable Place in Albania You Need to Visit
Lumi i Shales is a bay is situated along the Shala River in the middle of the Albanian Alps. Located in the center of the north of the country, visiting here is no quick stop, and requires a full day, (or even a night!). The closest big citiy to Lumi i Shales is Shkoder, which is about 55 km south east, and a little under 2 hours away driving.
